Mr. Jallow: I want to take time in commending you for starting a wireless transfer to The Gambia. I will try to use your services in the future. I also want to commend you for criticizing Tombong for not wanting to reply to all the questions posted to him. His excuse, because some members use fake names. The issue is not the fake name, but the content and truth of the questions. May I suggest that we refrain from asking Tombong questions if he refuses to acknowledge other members of the struggle. I think it is injustice and lack of concern for Tombong to speak with his mouth full. He set the debate and now he is giving silly excuses. Brother, this man is not serious. Mr. Saidy for your information, I am Muhammad Lamine Jassey-Conteh. I had an unpleasant meeting with you at the Gambian embassy, and again in Miami, Fl. You cannot say I am using a fake name. Do not give me any excuses. You have sent mails to me. Pleas quit being a coward and answer questions posted to you by our family of delegates Naphiyo, Comrade ML Jassey-Conteh ------Original Message------ From: Bamba Laye Jallow <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] Sent: February 18, 2001 5:48:51 PM GMT Subject: Tombong>>Re: GRTS TRAINING (resent) Tombong, Pardon me for using a different email domain. My excite inbox is acting weird this morning. I don't intend to confuse you. I'm real! Thanks for the response to my questions. I cannot take you up on the issue of the effect of training on the quality of your services at GRTS, since I am in no position to access your programs. The last time I saw anything on GRTS was back at the end of 1996 to early 1997 when I was on a brief trip home. Since then I have not had a chance to view one clip from GRTS. Perhaps you can accord me the chance one day. I will leave this aspect of the debate to those who are more familiar with the situation and have ready access to your programs on a regular basis. Karamba, your plate. I am however disturbed by the tone with which you started your response. You are the one who decided to start a debate with members of the list, knowing fully well that majority of users use pen names on their e-mail addresses. However these people also sign off their messages with their real names, or what I percieve, and I believe most people do, as their real given names. I think that's a wrong signal to start with. I respect your opinion and respect the fact that you are willing to debate with those you percieve as "real" people on the list. What makes you think that I'm real? For all I know, Bamba Laye Jallow may not exist! My point.....if you decide to take US up on a debate, there should not be any pick and choose based on our names, pen-names and what not. This is cyberspace, don't expect 100% reality...it's all virtual! You wrote: "GRTS management is concerned with the turn over of personnel and this phenomenon is not only affecting GRTS, but all companies in The Gambia in particular and Africa in general. <<This has nothing to do with Government policy or our policies.>> ............... ..........<<I do not know of any body who left GRTS because of ?direct or indirect policies/exertions from the executive arm of government?. >> Are you serious about the above assertions? No offence intended, but do you think the Gambian people will take the above seriously. Knowing what is reported about the sackings of Momodou Musa Secka, Peter Gomez(?)and many others. Do you think you are being factual? I'm sorry but you're not convincing me. I honestly believe that your ambitions for GRTS, whether stemming from personal motivations or otherwise, are great. But the fact remains that you have a boss for whom you will do anything to keep your job. That alone, is enough to explain the reported imbalance in coverage going on at the GRTS. Am I wrong about that? Let the debate be open to all. Enjoy your day. Abdoulie A.
