The Point wrote: "You just laid emphasis on your achievements and plans for agriculture, health, education, communication, road construction, youths etc. etc. But all these are subject to the outcome of the proposed 2001 elections, which ensure continuity or otherwise." This should not be a surprise because it just re-empahsizes to all of us and to the World ,that this President sees himself as a King whose rule will last for as long as he can force himself on the Gambian nation, and that elections notwithstanding, he intends to stay where he is by hook or by crook. His every move so far, coupled with the amazingly arrogant statements by some members of his government is ample evidence of this. His is not an administration that measures their achievements by how well they are able to assess the needs, problems and challenges facing our nation, and the efforts and expertise they use to solve these problems and challenges. Rather, it is an administration whose every waking hour, every ounce of energy, every move, is spent on formulating strategies on how they can stay in office, and how they can murder, maim and eliminate anyone who does not lend a blind eye and unmindful support to their schemes. Therefore, they address only their plans, unmindful of the wishes of those they should represent, as if the offices they snatched are an inheriatnce they will hold for life. They never once consider that government belongs to the people, and it is they who choose representatives, and it is they who will ultimately decide who infact represents them. Those who are heedless of this fact will ultimately learn the bare facts the very hard way, and this situation is no exception.
