I have a client with a PC running Windows 98 (first edition). Just recently, his outlook express has started acting funny. Normally it would come up within a few seconds of launching it. Lately, it takes up to a minute for it to start, even 30 seconds just to get the splash screen. In addition, the first time you do many tasks, like reply to a mail, or open "Tools -> Accounts" also takes a long time, but subsequent times are more normal. (Until you close it). The current workaround is to not shut down outlook express, but I sill would like to figure out what is going on. It may be the recent work I did on his system, I removed the Navidad virus, and removed the old version of McAfee which obviously did not prevent him from getting Navidad. I since installed Norton AV 2001 (7.0), but the problem remains. I tried re-installing outlooks express through windows setup, but that didn't help. Any clues would be much appreciated.
