Ready made Boot Disks with generic (IDE) CD support are available on the NoSpin WEB site now known as: "newest website: http://freepctech.com " I believe they are in the bootdisk or file sections. Be sure to get the proper one for your version of Windows. Test for the proper operation of "_any_" Boot Disk to see if it works as you expect before you erase your system!!! If you make your own, be sure any files necessary are ON the boot disk and that any "path information" in config.sys and autoexec.bat DOES NOT refer to the "C" drive! If your CD-ROM drive is faster than 2X, there is a good chance these WEB site Boot Disks will work... If your CD drive "data cable" plugs into your sound card you "may" not have an IDE CD drive, and they are much more work to get running in DOS. (There are at least three different types of this sort of "sound card connection", and they all "look" the same...) Rick Glazier Send all replies to the list, Thanks... Question "snipped" for length... > This is a Win95 Question > I`m getting ready to do my first clean install. > I would like to know how the cd-rom is accessed in dos.
