Hi Brad A device's SCSI ID has absolutely no bearing on where along the SCSI bus the device should be placed. The only essential thing is that the last device on the cable must be terminated. So when you shuffle the order of devices along the cable (as you did), there's no need to change the SCSI IDs on any of the devices. It would make sense to put a hard drive with its superior quality termination at the end of the cable...and leave it there until you retire that drive.
