<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> I posted a note to the group inquiring about the maltodextrin in DIET-RITE soft drinks now that they are sweetened with Splenda and Sunett. I got several replies that assured me that maltodextrin in food in the United States is always derived from corn or potatoes. One of these replies warned that pharmaceuticals may contain maltodextrin from other sources. One reply cautioned about the safety of drinking any artificial sweeteners. One reply said that soft drinks were all dangerous because they contain phosphorus. One reply suggested that I might consider drinking plain water. She suggested that I read a book titled THE BODY'S MANY CRIES FOR WATER. One reply suggested that I check the following URL: http://www.celiac.com/forbiden.html One Canadian respondent suggested that I stay away from all 'diet junk'. One person said they had recently called DIET-RITE and that she was informed that all of their beverages are gluten-free. Thanks for all your quick responses. You gave me some things to think about and you furnished me with very useful information. I am now considering whether I want to drink diet soft drinks. I am definitely never going to use Aspertame again. As a result of these exchanges I have done some pretty extensive research into artificial sweeteners. If you would like to correspond with me about that I am willing to do that with you. Joe Clemens Port Angeles, Washington, United States of American [log in to unmask]
