He chooses teas that are sweet and caffeinated (like vanilla almond flavored black tea) to provide the little boost he needs. The fluoride that is in tea (it's not sodium monofluoride) is good for your teeth, (though tea admittedly stains), but soda is triple-bad for your teeth. I think that was mentioned here before, actually.
