Hi Mary & Listmates,

Having just been at the dentist myself this morning, the same type of
thoughts were going through my mind as I was being worked on.

Don't dentists have to go for annual professional development updates
like other professionals or do they receive a monthly magazine or
information bulletins from dental associations? How do they keep informed?

Maybe this could be a target project for next year's celiac awareness
month focus.

Not only do we have to impress upon them (dentists and dental hygenist's
and dental chairside assistants) that whatever goes in our mouths
(including freezing and topical swabs) has to be gluten free, but also
that there are very obvious signs of celiac disease that show up on
teeth, and that with education dentists have the ability to alert the
patient, just as dentists have the ability to connect that other dental
abnormalities are signals of various physical maladies.

This obviously is a world-wide opportunity for celiac organizations to
take on - educating the dental professionals (including denturists.)

Any takers? Suggestions?
