Ken,

They're great fun (the kids are forever cloning beards onto their
mother!!). I use a Toshiba PDR-M4. One thing to remember is that
they are generally equivalent to ASA 80-90 film (quite slow) so
any camera shake is quite noticeable - but with an LCD Screen you
get instant feedback so you just erase and shoot again.

If you've got a USB port on your computer go for one which
supports that (much quicker downloads than the serial port).
