Gambia-L: The e-mail below, as usual, came from a source in the Gambia. By the way, Gambia-L, I have just read the Independent editorial on the Internet and I have to say that I was really disappointed by it. In my view, the editorial has given dictator Jammeh an undeserved credit. So for the sake of a healthy debate, I'll find time, later this evening, and take issue with the Independent on their editorial. Ebrima Ceesay ________________________________________________________________ Ebrima, Please tell the family and friends of Dumo Saho that we, in the underground, have been doing everything possible to locate the whereabouts of their loved one (Dumo Saho); and thankfully with the cooperation of my collaborators at the NIA, we were able to trace where he is currently being kept. But in order to protect my contacts at the NIA, I cannot, as at now, disclose where Dumo Saho is being kept. All I can say is that he is still alive. I can guarantee the family and his friends that up to this morning, he was seen - unharmed, but of course looking feeble. Again, let me reiterate or confirm to the L that he was "arrested" by the NIA and he is still detained by the NIA. Foday Barry, formerly of the CID and now with the NIA, is handling the case. Dumo Saho, according to the information on his NIA file, was "arrested and detained" in communicado, because he was (allegedly) "threatening the peace, stability and security of the country." Ebrima, they (the State) have now dropped the drug container story because no one believes them when they said that they had "advanced report" that a container carrying illicit drugs was coming to the Gambia from Europe and addressed to Dumo. According to my collaborators at the NIA, the real reason why Dumo Saho was "arrested and detained" is because they (the NIA) were informed by the President's Office that "Dumo was already working underground in the Gambia to reactivate or revitalise MOJA-G." And, Ebrima, being the paranoid regime that they are, they went for his neck. But, Ebrima, you see there is more to this Dumo Saho arrest than just meet the eye. Apparently, Yahya was very angry with him because he, Jammeh, was told that Dumo Saho had expressed "reservation" when Sarjo Jallow was appointed Secretary of State. So this is why Yahya and his regime are not happy with him (Dumo). They are harassing Dumo because neither did he join the regime nor approve of the idea Sajo joining the regime on the grounds of principles. Meanwhile, Dumo has since been moved from the NIA detention cells to another place, according to my extremely reliable NIA sources. But as I said earlier on, I cannot disclose where he is being kept. However, the signs are encouraging that he is, at least, alive; that is as much as I can say at this point. We have been giving away too much information to these bandits causing them to change their operational plans. We have some valuable clues which we are currently pursuing with caution. The publicity campaign by Dumo's wife, meanwhile, MUST continue. The Swedish Embassy in Dakar, the European Union Office in Banjul, the Scandinavian Embassies and Consulates in Dakar and Banjul must be constantly engaged; together with the American Embassy and the British High Commission in Banjul. The L must also be part of the campaign. The effort is not only for the release of Dumo but for the release of ALL those "missing persons" for which the Jammeh regime is being held responsible. AGAIN, A WORD OF CAUTION TO ALL THOSE EX-MOJA ACTIVISTS IN THE GAMBIA. PLEASE, DO ALWAYS TAKE EXTRA-PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES AND BE ON YOUR GUARD AT ALL TIMES. STAY PUT. THE COUNTRY BELONGS TO ALL OF US. WE WILL NOT ALLOW THESE ILL-EDUCATED, SOCIAL MISFITS AND TERRORISTS TO DESTROY THIS ONCE PEACEFUL COUNTRY OF OURS. WE SHALL PREVAIL IN THE END AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE END IS NEAR. (Note: Yahya is in Lome attending the OAU Summit and you know what happens to rogue Heads of state who attend OAU summits.) ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
