John: All you need to do is to drag them off the Task bar onto your desktop, then hit the delete key. This is only a shortcut to the program - so all you are deleting is the "shortcut" -- not the program. I do this regularly when I "acquire" icons in my task bar that I don't want there - and haven't lost a program yet! :-) -- Regards!
