Gambia-L: The e-mail BELOW is from one of my sources in the Gambia. Ebrima Ceesay ______________________________________________________________________ Hello Ebrima, I am in my office, finishing some Cabinet work, but, at the same time, laughing myself to pieces. Ebrima, I have been telling you that Yaya Jammeh has come under an unprecedented pressure - from all quarters of Gambian Society - since the tragic events of 10 April, and it seems I am being proven right. Frankly speaking, if you guys, and those of us here in the Gambia, can sustain the pressure on him, then Jammeh would be willing to handover power to Interim Government, although on his own terms, as at now. For instance, such an interim government, in Yaya Jammeh's view, must be headed by one of his loyalists, in particular Dr Sedat Jobe, the current Foreign Minister. Anyway, I'll shed more light on the Sedat Jobe thing as soon as possible. Actually, the reason why I am writing this e-mail is because I have just seen a confidential Cabinet memo, which is making me laugh, in which Yaya Jammeh is insinuating, or saying, that he wants to take a long medical leave. Yes, Ebrima, Yaya Jammeh is contemplating granting himself an eighteen (18) months medical leave, as a way of taking himself and his disgraced Government away from the scene. There is no specific date for the medical leave he envisages, but this may come after the Parliamentary Committee into the Crude Oil Scandal is established at the next sitting of the National Assembly. However, one thing I do know for sure, is that he would take the 18-month medical leave before the Parliamentary Committee on the Crude Oil saga concludes its deliberations. Chalk this one down. Thanks. ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe/subscribe or view archives of postings, go to the Gambia-L Web interface at: http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/gambia-l.html ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
