<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hello All, This is my first posting to the list and I'am from The Netherlands, so my English probably is not always as it should be. I follow this list for a few weeks now, to see if we in Holland are helped by this.(We don't have this kind of list yet, as far as I know). A lot of things theem to be different, but anayway it is interesting hearing that. I myself have been diagnosed as a celiac two years ago, although I did not suffer from any kind of illness or troublesome things. The simple fact that I have a son from 12 years, who has been diagnosed 11 years ago, made us parents decide to do bloodtests. (Because we heard from doctors at meetings that this was important, we as relatives had 10% chance to be a celiac also). In my case it proved to be so, the test came out a little negative, and I got a biopsie. My intestine was damaged severely. For me this was enough. I said A, so follow a diat was B. And for two years now I'm following it. But the strange thing is, that both the doctor I had, as well as my son's doctor, did not quite agree with it. They said both: "you have no trouble at all, so why bother? You can't eate nice things anymore, when you follow this diat, so think about that. Is that worth wile?" And that were docters!!!! The meaning of this message is, that in such cases you obviously have to have your one point of view. And there are many ways to become aquintated with knowledge. One of them is this list. What I'm trying to say is that I quite agree with Jeff in the Uk. It has no use to become angry with someone on the list for saying something different than he or she is thinking. We are all capeble to search for the right answers, whether they come from this list or from doctors or from books. And we do have indeed buttons for messages who make us fume. Let us have respect for all individual needs and thoughts regarding our diat and how to live with it. Ria Kock, the Netherlands
