<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> "I got my results back last week, and they were negative.... what are the chances of the tests being wrong? My doctor said that he thought it was irritable bowel syndrome- but then how come I have strong reactions whenever I eat wheat or milk products? And he advised me to eat more fiber and try metamucil... but my problem is definitely not constipation, so i don't think that advice would be a good idea. I'm thinking of going back to him to ask him all these questions but Im curious as to what you more experienced people think I should do, and if anyone has ever had a similar experience. Thanks, Meredith" Most of you said that first of all there was a fairly good chance of blood tests being inaccurate in general- anywhere from 20-50% inaccurate. Then, you told me that if I had been on a gluten free diet or even mostly gluten free that, that would make the test results not show up celiac. Many of you asked whether I had been on a gluten free diet, and to let you know, I have been on a mostly gluten free diet for 15 years, because when I was eight I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance by a pediatric GI at Georgetown University. Many of you said that it is necessary to shop around to find a doctor who really knows celiac, and I should consider that. Many others said that they thought I should just continue not eating gluten because the important thing is feeling good, and I ought not to worry about being diagnosed. So I have to admit being a little confused as to what I should do now. As for the metamucil, some of you have been on it for the same problems that I have, and said that it works wonders- which is good to know. It does help knowing that there are many of you out there with similar experiences! thanks, Meredith
