When I moved over to using a PC some of the time, I plugged in the Hayes Accura 336 V34 + Fax which I use with my Mac. Windows 98 obediently detected a Hayes Accura 33.6 modem, but the Win98 list of modem drivers doesn't include a 33.6kbps Hayes Accura, though it does have all the other speeds. So I have installed it as a generic 33.6 modem. But every time I start the computer it detects the Hayes Accura and wants to install it. I have tried downloading drivers and installing them, but neither the startup autodetect method nor "Add new hardware" seems able to "see" them. I downloaded two 33.6kbps Hayes Accura drivers, both zip files which expanded to two files each: Mdmacc06 - a text file and an executable and Mdmaci3b - a text file and an executable. But no way can I get the computer to install these drivers. I have browsed to them, I have even put them in their own folder and called it "Windows 98" or "Windows 95", in case Win98 was looking for this, but no dice. Is there any other way of getting them installed? Or, indeed, since the modem works well enough in its own little way, of just not getting that annoying startup screen trying to install them?
