Sorry, I see the search field you're talking about. I use the quick 
filter bar almost exclusively. It's quick, but the disadvantage is that 
it's just filtering the current folder. The quick filter bar is what I 
described below.


To use the field that you're talking about, a shift-tab away from the 
list of folders, just type the word or string you want to search for and 
press enter. You'll now get a tab with all sorts of ways to drill down 
into what you're looking for. Like I said, I don't tend to use this 
search feature myself, since I just tend to use the quick filter bar.
