Hi!

I need some technical advice regarding interfacing with the Braille 'N
Speak and PC. My PC is back from the shop, where it has literally been
all summer. The technician who serviced it added a PS2 mouse port for the
benefit of any sighted persons who may try to assist me. He moved my
Dectalk 4.2C card in the process, and it is not loading. Until such time
that I can afford to do anything about this, I have no choice but to run
JAWS for DOS, Arkenstone's Ruby, and Atlas Speaks using my Braille 'N
Speak 2000 as the default synthesizer.

With a little assistance, I was able to re-install JAWS with parameters
for the Braille 'N Speak. (Most important data was wiped off the hard
drive in the process.) When I run JAWS, I find it a great effort to get
my speech working through he BNS. I am using Speech Box Mode and
entering it with a Chord-P. I have to keep unloading and reloading JAWS
for it to work--if it even does. Even when I can get it working, it only
functions for about 10 or so key strokes before it stops working.
Sometimes when I load, I hear a click emerge from the BNS's speaker, but
no speech.

I contacted Blazie and spoke to Irwin Hott. He suggested a warm reset,
which is not helping. I know for a fact that the two devices have the
potential to communicate through my serial port.

Lastly, in order that I might save myself an endless wait on the phone
with Arkenstone, has anybody ever used Atlas Speaks using Eloquence? If
so, is there a built in Hot Key to use to open the menus? Alt does not
seem to be working.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Chaim
