Hi Amy,

I don't know much about EverNote or other notes apps.  I use a Braille
Note for my notetaking.  But since you mentioned MS Word, I thought of
something.  You can actually imbed links to other files within a Word
doc.  So let's say you wanted to have one parent file (think of that
as the main notebook.  You could imbed any files you wanted within
that notebook, and then of course each of those files could have other
files imbedded into them.  So you'd have lots of individual files
saved on your computer, but you'd have one master document that
contains the links to all those files, organized however you like.
You would just go to the insert tab and click on Hyperlink.  That will
open up the browse menu where you can go in and select the file you
want to link to.  Hope this is of some help.
