A few weeks ago, RIS honored a number of volunteers who had served 10
and 20 years at the station, providing information access to blind
residents of southwestern Pennsylvania.

Listeners now have the opportunity to show their support for this service.

If you can not attend the event (it's listed below), then why not
encourage a friend to do so and pledge a few dollars for his or her
efforts.

There will be refreshments and prizes for participants.

GUIDE DOGS LEAD TO READING

Guide Dogs Lead to Reading is a sponsored walk that will
raise money for the Radio Information Service, a Pittsburgh
radio station for people who are blind or who cannot read print.
While anyone is invited to join the walk, only guide dogs will be
permitted on the course. The Walk will be an opportunity to meet the
guide dogs and their owners as well as other RIS supporters.

Registration--$2.50
Amount: 2 miles (8 laps) and 5 miles (20 laps)
for $1 per lap or a contribution.

TIME:  Registration, 8:30am; Walk, 9:00am to noon.
DATE:  Sunday, October 11, 1998.
PLACE:  Carnegie Mellon University Track, 5000 Forbes Avenue,
in Oakland

There will be prizes for everyone and special awards for
the walkers with the highest pledges. Dog biscuits, water and
refreshments will be provided.

Parking is available at the Forbes Avenue lot. Buses 61A,
61B, and 61C stop at CMU on Forbes Avenue.

guides will be provided for any walker wishing to participate.
If you are unable to participate, but would like to
contribute or get more information, please call or write. RIS
will be pleased to receive your donation and to provide you with
information about applying for service. Or we can tell you how
to volunteer and how you can provide RIS to a new listener.

Waiver:
