aloha, y'all!
the best HTML code stripper is HTMSTRIP, which has the added bonus of
being freeware... the latest version of HTMLSTRIP (which was released on
2 May 1997) can be obtained via ftp from:
ftp.simtel.net
log in as anonymous and use your email address as your password, then
type:
cd pub/simtelnet/msdos/html
and press enter... you can check to make sure that you are in the
pub/simtelnet/msdos/html directory by typing the command
pwd
once you have determined that you are in the pub/simtelnet/msdos/html
directory, type the command
bi
to ensure that any files you transfer will be treated as binaries (this is
important, for unless you transfer a zipfile in binary mode, you won't
be able to unzip it)
once you've ensured that binary mode is on, type:
get htmstr704.zip
when the server tells you that the transfer is complete, type the command
quit to end your ftp session...
of course, there _is_ an easier way to grab the file... if you have
access to lynx, load the following URL:
http://www.cdrom.com/pub/simtelnet/msdos/html
type a forward slash and search-for the following text string:
htmst
type 'd' to download the file and save it to your remote home directory
safe surfing--keep an ear cocked for riptides!
gregory.
