TVEYES ALWAYS WATCHING

     (USA) -- Journalists interested in analyzing the content of
U.S., British and Canadian radio and TV news should consider
TVEyes, a service that can track keywords and alert the user when they
are spoken. A free consumer version allows up to three different words
or phrases to be kept on a watch list, with alerts sent via e-mail or
wireless messaging. Three other products, for which TVEyes charges,
include a professional edition, a political edition that "keeps track
of the ever changing buzz on the hill" and a broadcast edition, which
contains transcription and clip-making tools. "This is based on closed
captioning technology, so is only as reliable as those captions'
contents. And it certainly doesn't cover all the networks, so it's not
exhaustive," wrote Sreenath Sreenivasan at Poynter.org. "But it's a
