Hi, fellow listers:

First off, many thanks to all those who responded on and off list to my
request for assistance with scandisk. It was suggested that the operation
of "system restore" might be part of the problem, not because that program
is running as such, but because protocols for collecting system data which
that program needs may be in place. Is there any way to disable "system
restore" temporarily, and if so, how does one do this?

Thanks for any thoughts, suggestions, etc.

John
