I had a very strange experience with these calls. I had gotten about one a
week. Finally I told the guy that I had worked in I T & knew this was a
scam as MS couldn't possibly be monitoring everyone's computers for this
sort of thing. They wouldn't have the resources, time or inclination. The
guy asked me where I worked & said he was in India, was very poor so took
his current job but hated it & was looking for something better. I referred
him to my company's web site & told him we did hire lots of people in India.
He thanked me politely & I have never had another call.

I disagree that being nasty is appropriate or works well. If anything, it
could easily make them more desirous of harassing you just because you were
nasty. That would be my inclination if I had one of these jobs. I think
telling them you know this is a scam so please take me off your list works
well. They really don't want to waste their time on someone who will not be
taken in. Just my opinion....

Not only just say "no" but if you be really nasty about it, they might just
get the message. A while back, I got such a call and was nasty about it
and haven't gotten another one since.
