If you ever used JAWS in the days before they had their virtual PC mode but
had a keystroke to simply reformat a web page, that's similar to what this
adaptation is like.

Web pages are linearized, a bit of info is inserted about structure and you
read the page with the JAWS cursor. I've used this plugin and it does
function but you should read all the documentation.

Even without this adaptation, you can work with Firefox today. You
wouldn't be reading with any virtual mode and web pages are not linearized
but you can use the JAWS cursor to read a web page. Again because it isn't
linearized, getting around will be a bit more complicated. How much of a
challenge this is depends in part on the layout of the web page and in part
on your comfort with screen reading review modes like a JAWS cursor or
Window-Eyes mousepointer.

It has also been my experience that some of the dialogs for things like
preferences in Firefox require a lot of exploration with a screen review
mode like the JAWS cursor.

There is a web page that talks about some of the Mozilla organization's
accessibility work at http://www.mozilla.org/access/. Perhaps someone more
familiar with work here knows what plans there are to move some of the
accessibility in the Mozilla browser to Firefox.

In the interest of full disclosure I will say that I work for Microsoft and
further on the Internet Explorer team.

Thanks,

Kelly
