SUBJECT:         Desktop Support Technician Training Program

Enrollment is now open for the Desktop Support Technician 
program.  The latest date to enter for evaluation for this course 
is March 14, 2011.  The next class will begin April 11, 2011.  
This class has had enormous interest, so send clients as soon as 
possible to ensure space in the next class.

This program is divided into two sections.  The first part covers 
the A+ Certification curriculum.  Intended for entry-level IT 
technicians, the CompTIA A+ exam encompasses preventative 
maintenance, basic networking, installation, troubleshooting, 
communication, and professionalism.  The certification requires 
the completion of two exams.  The second section covers the 
Network+ Certification.  This exam encompasses managing, 
maintaining, troubleshooting, operating, and configuring basic 
network infrastructure.  It requires passing one exam.

Assistive technology available in the classroom and computer 
laboratory includes screen magnification and speech output 
systems, as well as closed circuit televisions for magnifying 
print.  This course serves as a prerequisite for the Microsoft 
Computer Systems Engineer program.

Experienced graduates from this program can find work as a 
Computer Support Specialist (15-1041.00).
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma, good 
comprehension of technical material using assistive technology, 
keyboarding speed of 30 wpm, print reading speed of 100 wpm with 
75% comprehension, 12th grade proficiency in business math, in 
addition to excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
