There are now 4 candles on the birthday cake for the vicug-l list and 465
list members. I'll include a post from last year which quotes another.
those list archives can be quite a valuable resource. Again, thanks to
all who bring items to the list and to those who recommend this list to
friends or pass on items to other lists. Your friendly co-operation makes
list operation a pleasure.

by the way, Phil saw his shadow, so expect winter to continue for a few
more weeks.

There's probably nothing marked on your calendar for today, unless you
live in a rural Pennsylvania town whose claim to fame revolves around
actions of a certain hibernating rodent named Phil. Well, today is also
the unofficial birthday celebration for the vicug-l mailing list. It was
set up three years ago and continues to grow despite an explosion in the
number of other mailing lists devoted to topics related to blindness.

There are 394 list subscribers today compared to 279 a year ago.

Jim Fettgather of the Kansas City, MO Real-Eyes group has signed on as a
list owner during the past year.

We want to thank all of you for your contributions to the list and for
offering your assistance to those who ask for help.

Here's a message from the first anniversary :

Well, one year ago on this date it seems that Gregory Rosmaita was busy
configuring the listserv options for a new mailing list called vicug-l!

It was a project of a newly formed users group in New York City, but in a
few weeks expanded membership to incorporate the announcement lists from
groups in Chicago and Pittsburgh.

I would guess that with the present total of 174 people on the list, most
of the list subscribers are outside those three cities.

We've had some interesting discussions / debates in the past 365 days and
plenty of interesting and useful postings.

I'd like to remind new and even ancient subscribers that you can review
previous postings by visiting the URL
http://maelstrom.stjohns.edu/archives/vicug-l.html There you can do some
pretty fancy searching and manipulation of those old messages.
