Bank One has just installed talking ATM's in four new states that up
until now have not had any talking atm's. Now blind persons in Michigan,
Indiana, Kentucky, and Oklahoma can bank independently for the first
time. This is in addition to availability of talking atm's in Ohio and
Illinois. The new talking atm's are available in such cities as Detroit,
Grand rapids, and Traverse City, Michigan; Lexington, Kentucky;
Indianapolis, Indiana; Oklahoma city, Oklahoma; and Cincinnati and Akron,
Ohio. In Illinois, the Chicago neighborhoods of Lincoln Park, Chicago
Lawn, Bridgeport, and South Chicago have their first locations as does
the city's west side and south Loop. There are also new locations in
northwest suburban Chicago and northern Indiana. In all, 45 new talking
atm's have been added.
Any standard headphone with a mini-jack works with the machines.
Additionally, the bank will provide headsets free at bank branches with
the talking atm's or by calling toll free 877.241.8665. You can locate
existing talking atm's in Illinois and Ohio at this number. This
telephone number can also be used to report any machine problems or offer
any feedback. The bank is in the process of conducting a pilot with the
machines so ideas and suggestions are welcome and very much helpful.
