Hi Jo,
Thanks for asking blind residents of Pennsylvania for input on the
Assistive Technology lending library via the vicug-l list.  Are such
programs available in every state?

One item I would like to request is a system with the Linux operating
system installed and configured to run the Emacs Speak speech output
software.  I think using this for a few weeks with some basic tutorials
provided on audio tape could help me decide if it is a system worth
investing time in.


I don't know of anyone offering a turn-key system and although there is a
mailing list for blind Linux users, there is help needed for new or would
be users.

Perhaps the work PIAT does in developing this workstation could be shared
with other states or with other organizations of and for the blind.  I'm
sure those interested will write you directly at
