+ PART 3: NEWS & COMMENTS

As you may know, elections for VICUG NYC's Executive Committee
were held at the October 1999 meeting. The new Executive Committee
members are:

  President: Jay Leventhal
  Vice-President: Vivien Yacu
  Treasurer: Vita Zavoli
WebMaster/Minister of Propaganda Gregory J. Rosmaita
Members-at-Large: David Brandt & Edwin Montanez

And just who, you may be asking, was elected Secretary? No one.
That's right, no one. And, since there were no nominees and no
volunteers for the position, the office of Secretary is still open
to anyone who might care to fill it.

What's involved? According to the VICUG NYC Bylaws -- which, he
added parenthetically, but without actual parentheses -- can be
found online at:
  http://www.hicom.net/~oedipus/vicug/bylaws.html

The Secretary shall take minutes at all meetings and make
them available to members, as well as the WebMaster/ListOwner
for publication. Additionally, the Secretary shall maintain a
file of outgoing correspondence, as well as significant
correspondence which may be received by VICUG NYC.

According to the VICUG NYC Bylaws (Article III, Section 2, Part
A), Jay Leventhal, as President, can appoint a member-in-good
standing to the office. The appointee will not assume the
responsibilities of the position until the following General
Membership Meeting, where his or her appointment will be ratified
(or rejected) by the members-in-good standing in attendance.

Anyone interested in the position should email Jay at:
