Hi.
The keyboard you're talking about, and that Jim Snowbarger recommended, is
the radio frequency keyboard from Casco Products
319-393-6960
http://www.casco.com
I'm typing on one at the moment and they're quite good. There are,
apparently, two models. The one I'm typing on has no number pad, has only
one windows, alt, and ctrl key, and has a difficult insert key. The other,
which they say will be selling in a few weeks, has a number pad, but only
supports a typing speed of 60 words a minute. After that point is reached,
it'll skip keystrokes.
The range on this board is good, but I've had to put an fm antenna (one of
the wire antennas for fm reception), on the receiver to make it go as far as
I want. Your condo should be well covered.
As for Logitech boards, many people use them with great success, as long as
the software isn't installed. I would suggest, if I may, that you get one,
making sure you can return it, and see if it works for you. They're much
cheaper than the Casco boards, as well as having all the keys, including the
number pad, and seeming to have no speed limitations.
Aman

Subject: Wireless Keyboards

Hi fellow listers:

Some time back, I read or heard of a wireless keyboard that Jim Snowbarger
had some hand in designing. Its marketed by an oufit based in Indiana, if
memory serves. I recently moved back into my one bedroom condo, and while
there is some dead space in the kitchen which accommodates my computer
(actually two computers) quite nicely, sitting in front of it (in the
conventional fashion) has the back of my office chair pressed up again the
refrigerator...well, almost; in any case, its a little too tight for
comfort. I'd much rather sit in my comfortable rocker eight feet away in
the living room. I'm asking about (for want of a better description) the
"Snowbarger" keyboard because I've heard horror stories about how other
wireless keyboards (logitech, for example) screw up JAWS; that just what I
heard.

If anyone can help with contact info for the Snowbarger keyboard or advice /
suggestions about other wireless keyboards which won't render JAWS
inoperable, I'd be most appreciative.

John
