Thanks for all of the helpful information regarding my question.  But I have 
just one more question that I need to ask.  Is there a safely remove 
hardware dialog   button in windows7?  I'm asking because I don't see one 
here that's  listed here when I tried looking for it.

In windows 7, you can find your drives by going into My Computer. If you
have a thumb drive or SD card in your machine, you should find it there.
