Dear All,

Just a quick not to let you know that the National Library for the Blind has
teamed up with electronic publisher Online Originals in a experimental
project to provide free electronic books to its members. The first phase of
the project is launched today and will be featured on In Touch this evening.

Online Originals publish original works for use on a PC or a Palm Pilot -
the NLB has been working with them to make their stock available for use on
a PC with speech synthesis or a portable device such as a Braille Lite or
Bookworm.

If you are an NLB member interested in receiving one of the three free books
on offer in this pilot phase, then why not visit the Online Originals site
and get your free book - you'll just need your full library membership
number and be prepared to answer a couple of questions. You can find the
site at http://www.onlineoriginals.com/nlb.html

If you're not yet a member you can join the library via the above page -
we'll get your membership number back to you asap (though I'm not in the
office tomorrow!) and then you'll be free to go ahead and order. As ever
we're keen to hear your comments, particularly as we're hopeful that this
pilot may encourage larger publishers to make their materials available to
visually impaired people.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Regards,

Simon
