Hello, list members.
I am very excited to be in direct contact with the web designer responsible
for the Kansas City's Area Transit Association's web site:
http://www.kcata.org
We have conducted lengthy discussions about how the site might be made
more accessible, and he is determined that the site be useable by the
visually impaired or blind Internet user.
The obvious lack of alt tags will be addressed shortly, but right now,
schedules are being presented in a pdf format, which is quite less than
desirable, as even when they are converted to text by many of the means
available, the information is present, but not in a coherent format.
What I desperately need to know is of any transit web sites that are a
model for accessibility. I'm quite sure that I've heard that some exist,
and if anyone could point me in the right direction, we have a great chance
of getting this brand new site started off on the right track.
Thanks for any help or pointers to web sites that anyone might provide.
