Yes, David.

I did post a URL, but the message to the list doesn't seem
to have arrived yet. It's at:

Hi Lisa,

Office 2007 (Including Word) is probably one of Microsoft
least popular upgrades, certainly for sighted people. They
have introduced something called a "Ribbon Bar" supposedly
to make things easier than the old drop down menus.
Thankfully they have kept most of the old keystrokes, and so
screen reader users seem to have less problems navigating
that the likes of myself.

However, the biggest change is the format of the files,
which are essentially a derivative of XML. You can "Save
As" Word 95-2003 (.doc) but that's not always as simple as
it sounds.

In our office, I have just one Office 2007 system, purely
for support purposes. I will NOT be installing it on other
systems.

Thankfully, Microsoft have brought out a downloadable add-on
for earlier version of Word, which allows you to open, edit
and save 2007 format files.

George.

Subject: [VICUG-L] question about microsoft word

Hi all,

I am using windows xp, windows eyes 6.1, office xp and word
2002. I do not know anything about the later versions of
word and what will work or not work with what I am working
with. Is word 2007 just for vista users? Could someone
give me an opinion and what I should do: stay with what I
have or move up? Thanks very much in advance.

Lisa
