Hello Deborah,
I've had this problem also. The problem isn't JAWS, rather it's likely
your settings in Word. Go to the "view" menu and start unchecking all
those nightmare tools for sighted people.
Like: Markup, and uncheck all the items in the toolbar submenu in "view"
However, leave "normal" checked under "view"

Subject: Words blank in Microsoft Word

Hi List,
I remember this happening sometime in the past when I was using
Window-Eyes,
and now it's happening with JAWS. As I read what I'm writing in
Microsoft
Word, segments of lines keep going blank. On the braille display, for
example, for the words "impaired" I might see "i red", etc. It's
really
hampering my productivity. Any suggestions vastly appreciated.
Deborah
