I don't have a Kindle or use one regularly, but a sighted friend of mine has 
one and let me play with it. It's a nice device. If I didn't have a Victor 
Stream, I would probably own one, but because I'm used to having so much 
more in the Stream, I'm not tempted, at least not at the current price.

The two things I didn't like about the Kindle were that it doesn't support 
very many file types and that I could basically only navigate in 
paragraph-sized chunks.

About the file types, I remember PDF and txt files were supported, but I 
don't think rtf was. This is one of those things that doesn't seem like a 
big deal, but it becomes one over time because you have to remember to 
convert everything to that file type before putting it on the unit. My own 
experience is that I tend to forget to do this, especially for important 
situations, while I'm busily trying to remember all the other things I need 
to do.

The navigation issue was more important. You can stop and resume reading 
without any problems, and you can search for things in the text, which is 
also nice, but if you want to move back and forward in the text, you have to 
do so by page/screen. This is actually not as much as a print page or 
computer screen. It's more like one large or two medium sized paragraphs. 
Still, it's a lot when you really only want to reread the last couple of 
sentences or check the spelling of a word, which isn't possible.

I only played with the Kindle for a few hours, so a regular user can give 
you better and more reliable information.
