From a mailing list I read a news article, see below, that google will have
an image of each page of scanned books.  Here is a snipit:

"You'll see a highly faithful, photographic, high-resolution image of each
page"

Which brings us back to my original suggestion, one or all of the national
blind groups need to advise google on the project.  If the graphical format
used is tif then most ocr software can convert each page into text.  So
either google can save them as tif or make easy conversion to that format
available.  Some advocate sending messages to google on their web pages.
Something of this importance requires high level contacts and those will
only be open to the national groups, acting in concert one would hope.
Only books out of copyright will have full content, the copyright stuff
will be like aamazon does it now, a little text at a time to spot a book
you might want to get.  Read the article here:
