NVDA is free, so I guess that would be your cheapest screen reader. 
You'll have to see if it meets your needs and works with all of the 
applications you use. You can download it from 
http://www.nvda-project.org/wiki/Download. Other than that and JAWS, I'm 
not sure how the other screen readers price out.

Since you're already using Microsoft Security Essentials on Windows 
vista, I'd just stick with that. It's as good as any other antivirus 
application with respect to virus detection. If you're using non-MS 
applications, like Firefox or Thunderbird, you might be a bit worried 
about how it detects virus threats coming in through those applications, 
but if you're using MS applications then I wouldn't worry about it.
