Here is the answer I got. I especially like this line:
"At this time, Google Print content excerpt pages may not be compatible..."

Hello Severine,

Thank you for your email.

Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it
universally accessible and useful. As part of this mission, we understand
the importance of making Google Print accessible to those who are visually
impaired.

At this time, Google Print content excerpt pages may not be compatible
with many text-to-speech applications. We're aware of this issue, and are
always working to improve the Google Print program for all of our users.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and will take your comments into
account as we move forward with Google Print. Additionally, at this time
we are only processing titles in English. However, we hope to expand
Google Print to additional languages in the future.

Thank you for your interest in Google Print.

Sincerely,

The Google Team

Hello,
First of all, congratulation for the present accessibility of your web
site. I am totally blind and use a screen reader to navigate the web since
1998. Almost since that time, your home page is my starting page and the
way I use to do all my research.
This week I read on the visually impaired computer user group list that
Google was planning to scan millions of books from public libraries to
render them searchable and put the ones that were no longer under
copyright law online.
Like all blind people, I apploaded that idea and hope it will soon come
true. However, I would like to urge you not to forget the accessibility
for blind people: please use a format that would be accessible to us as
well so that we don't lose this great chance to access thousands of books.
Also, for the material that is under copyright law, would it be possible
to borrow it or buy it if we provided proof of our blindness? That would
be so great! Is this project to include books in foreign languages such as
French or is it going to be restricted to English?
Thank you very much for any information you will be able to give me. Keep
up the good work,

Best regards
