ADA Technical Assistance Specialist to provide information regarding the
requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act and related legislation
to callers on Center's 800 number, web site and through conferences and
meetings.  Responsible for conducting research and providing interpretative
guidance and referral utilizing local, state and federal resources.
Bachelor's in social science or health related field and experience in a
field related to disability required.  A minimum of 2 years of work
experience in providing technical knowledge of the ADA, related Civil
Rights
Laws and associated regulations or direct experience with a disability.
Ability to deliver information orally utilizing the telephone, public
speaking and conducting computer based searches required.  Some travel
essential to the position.  Start date September 1, 2002 or after.  For

Job Title:        ADA Technical Assistance and Training Specialist
            The ADA Technical Assistance Specialist reports directly to the
            Technical Assistance Coordinator and indirectly to the Project
            Director.

Description of the Position:
Responsible  for providing technical information and referral about the ADA
and  related  legislation in response to calls received by the Center on an
"800"  number.  Additionally responsible to providing technical information
and  referral  about  the  technical  requirements  of  Section  508 of the
Rehabilitation  Act,  Section  255 of the telecommunications Act related to
the accessibility of information technology

Additional duties include:
·     Provide education and training regarding the ADA in response to
requests received by the Center;
·     Assist in the development of handouts, reference manuals, flyers,
etc. developed by the Center in support of education and training
activities;
·     Assist the Center Director in developing and maintaining ongoing
relationships with business and disability steering committees in the six
states of the region by attending meetings of the committees upon request
of the Center Director;

Qualifications For The Position Are:
·     Minimum of bachelor's degree in social science or health related
field.
·     Minimum of 2 years work experience in field related to disability.
·     Proficiency in speaking, writing and comprehending information in
English.
·     Technical knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and
associated regulations and the ability to convey this knowledge verbally.
·     Demonstrated experience in preparation and presentation of ADA
related information at meetings, seminars and workshops.
·     Experience providing technical assistance regarding compliance with
the Americans with Disabilities Act.
·     Ability and willingness to travel within six state region served by
the Center as well as occasional travel to other destinations within the
continental United States.
·     Proficiency utilizing computer for word processing, electronic mail
and data searches and records management.
·     Personal experience with a disability preferred.

COORDINATOR OF ACCESSIBLE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE

Project Coordinator in the Great Lakes ADA and Accessible IT Center to
direct project activities as they relate to promoting the acquisition and
use of Accessible Information Technologies with an emphasis on Educational
Settings.  Responsible for developing and maintaining resources at the
local, state, regional and national level for technical knowledge and
expertise in designing and utilizing accessible information technology in
administrative, human resource, educational programs and classroom
environments.  Responsible for designing mechanisms to disseminate
information and provide technical assistance utilizing a variety of
methods.
Bachelor's in the appropriate scientific field and three to five years
experience in a very similar setting.  Extensive knowledge of the Americans
with Disabilities Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and various
standards for accessible information technology in the private sector and
prior experience working within educational environments strongly
preferred.
Ability to deliver information orally utilizing the telephone, public
speaking and conducting computer based searches desired.  Some travel
essential to the position.  Start date October 1, 2002 or after.  For

TRAINING COORDINATOR

Project Coordinator in the Great Lakes ADA and Accessible IT Center to
direct project activities as they relate to developing and implementing
education and training activities.  Responsible for developing and
maintaining training curriculums addressing the various requirements of the
ADA and related legislation for a variety of audiences.  Responsible for
designing and implementing distance learning technologies as well as
traditional face-to-face programs across the Great Lakes Region.  Will be
responsible to deliver training as well as coordinate the ADA TA staff
efforts to meet the training demands of the region.   Bachelor's in
journalism, education and/or related field and/or a minimum of  3 to 5
years
related work experience required.  Extensive knowledge of the Americans
with
Disabilities Act and related civil rights laws required.  Demonstrated
prior
experience developing and conducting training curriculum strongly
preferred.
Ability to deliver information orally utilizing the telephone, public
speaking and educational technologies desired.  Significant travel
essential
to the position.  Start date October 1, 2002 or after.  For fullest
