It is not a problem to activate over the telephone. I've had to do it
a number of times myself.

George.

Subject: [VICUG-L] what is my client to to about registering windows
xp?

Hi all,
I have a client who has a windows 2000 machine. He went out and
bought the full version of windows xp pro. He installed it just now,
on his windows 2000 system as an upgrade, and everything went great!
Here's the problem. Microsoft wants him to register it to activate
it. The problem is, he has no internet connection, not even dialup
where he lives.
I told him to come to my place but he has no ethernet card built in so
he couldn't plug my dsl modem in, and he only has 30 days to activate
it. Folks, I don't want to see him waste $200. I told him to call
Microsoft and see if they'll register it over the phone. This scares
me. I hope he hasn't wasted $200, or he will be furious.
What can he do?
Harry
