Those search providers refer to search bars in your internet explorer toolbar. Search bars appear in your I.E. tool bar as an alternative to going to a search engine website. You don't have to keep or use any of them.

Subject: Re: [VICUG-L] question about settings in internet explorer 8

Lisa and all:
First, I'm surprised that AVG appears as a search option, because, as far as I know, the company only sells anti-virus software.

Second, if memory serves, the search list under the Internet Options menu refers to what choices you have if you search from the address bar (the two or three lines that follow the website address if you are using JAWS). I actually use Google's Accessible search, but I keep that in my favorites menu and load it from there.

Hi all,

when you open internet explorer and then go to internet options and click on that the first tab is general. When you tab you come to a list and the first option is search providers. Then when you tab over from there it gives you a list of search providers. I was wondering if you need all of those and if not how would you know which ones you can get fid of because there is a remove button there. I got rid of two entries that were avg related because I don't have avg any more. Thanks very much for any help.

Lisa
