The service itself is as speech friendly as the applications you choose.
It simply lets you make the connection.  It does open another window on
your computer where the ads are displayed but this doesn't interfere with
operation.

As for notifying people of a new address, this depends on how many folks
you routinely write to.  What I'd suggest is trying the service as a
secondary access, and if it meets your needs eventually dropping your
first.  Then writing with your new email address to people.
