just bought the eee pc yesterday. it is pretty amazing and easy to use now
that it comes with xp home on it.

speech works just fine.

i am looking to find other blind folks who may be experimenting with these
to share what we learn.

the asus eee pc is the original web book but now dell and hp are making
versions of the same.

i bought the smallest one i could find and the keys are a bit squished in
but that's ok.

for anyone who does not know, this new class of laptops are fuly
functional but very small and inexpensive around $300.

they come with either linux or xp. originally i bought the linux version,
but it was not the full os and i could not get it to talk easily.
recently they are now shipped running full versions of xp.

they range from no hard drive to 16g solid state drives to 160gb hard
drives. no cd drive either, just as many usb ports as they can fit.

mine was $280 and has 1g of memory.

really very cool.

pete
