Hi Harry,

I wonder if you have the right microphone selected. Once you figure that out, you will need to check the recording level for that microphone. You do this in properties under the levels tab. Good luck.

Diane

Subject: [VICUG-L] no audio when I'm recording a file, how to fix it?

Hi all,

Using windows 10, fall creators update, 1709, and jaws 18.0.4350.

My problem is, I have to record an audio tutorial on doing a check ledger, and so I did a test recording. Folks, I have no audio. All I hear is a hissing sound, and I know that hissing sound is the test recording, but there's no audio there.

I have a feeling my microphone needs to be turned up, but when I go into sound, then go into the recording tab, and I tab down 1 time, and I see my USB microphone there, but there is no volume adjustment for the microphone.

I also pressed insert f11 and went into the mixer, and all I see there is, a volume control for speakers, and a volume control for jaws, but no microphone recording level.

Anyone help me out on this?

If I cannot record on this computer any more, I'll have to buy a separate recorder, which is going to cost a lot of money, we're talking
3 figures here, in the hundreds, and the company I would have to buy the recorder from is not making them any more, after the shipment of recorders sells out.

Harry
