Attached is my text file called $$ascii.txt, which can be used for cutting
and pasting accented letters, ligatures, ffractions, superscripts, et al.,
if all goes well. you can Save it as a text file and make use of it.
I'm sorry it's so messy. It includes things I took from the Character Map
system utility I found in Windows 98SE as well as odd things that have shown
up elsewhere. And I've tried to copy the most frequently used characters
onto the first line.

<LI>While holding the CTRL key, type the character that will
appear above the letter.<BR><BR><B>NOTE</B>: To add the tilde,
colon, or caret character, press CTRL+SHIFT and then type the
character that will appear above the letter.<BR><BR>The status bar
displays "CTRL+<I>key</I>" where <I>key</I> is the key that you
pressed, but nothing appears on the screen.<BR><BR>
<LI>Type the letter that you want. The accented character will
appear in the document.<BR><BR></LI></OL>If you type a legitimate
symbol and an ineligible letter, you hear a beep. If you press CTRL
plus a symbol that is invalid, you see just the character with no
symbol above it.

<LI>While holding the OPTION key, type the character that will

<LI>Type the letter that you want. The new combination appears in
