My Ob/gyn thought my thyroid felt large and asked if I would make an appt
with my primary care dr. to check into it further. He did as requested and I
had bloodwork and an ultrasound done. The results of the bloodwork were
normal and the ultrasound showed three nodules. The one of concern to the
dr. is over a cm at 1.6cm. on the left side, the other two are very small and on
the right side. I also had a thyroid uptake test checked at 3 and 24 hours
which also came back normal. These are the only points they have raised and
want to continue with a large needle biopsy of the largest nodule and another
dr. recommended a fine needle aspiration of the thyroid itself,he felt the right
side was larger than the other. I have no other symptoms, not hot or cold
even though I am 50 and the ob/gyn had me discontinue the use of a low dose
birth control pill that was being used to control heavy bleeding brought on by
perimenopause, also I am not unusually tired, have dry skin, hair loss or unusual
weight gain or loss. My biggest health complaint is sore joints and stiff
muscles, but I have had those for years, at the age of 30 I took up landscaping
and planting as a profession not only did I work full time on my yard but for
others as well so I figure there is a good reason for the sore joints and
muscles since I still continue to do this work but just for my self and my 1 acre
landscaped yard. I am awaiting another blood test result to test for antibodies
and the possibility of Hashimoto's. I understand from what i have read not
what the dr.'s have said that Hashimoto's can be related to Rheumatoid
arthritis. I was just wondering if anyone else was found with a similar condition
and what was their experience. Thanks i look forward to anyones response,
Also if anyone could recommend a thyroid specialist in the western suburbs of
Cleveland I would appreciate it Thanks Again
