Kit and list members,
You write that you are having spells of aggravation, and attributing to
thyroid being high. Thought I would add my two cents!
Have you been tested in the past for adrenal fatigue or adrenal failure?
This usually involves some sort of Cortisol level, a screening, then an ACTH
stimulation test may be pursued involving baseline cortisol level (8 AM draw
when levels would be highest), followed by the ACTH injection, followed by
another cortisol draw to note adrenal response. This will help to sort
primary from secondary causes of insufficiency, and help to determine
whether your adrenals are doing their job.
The reason I ask all this, is that I have Addisons Disease and am on thyroid
replacement... and my bp and temper seem to 'flare' similarly when my
Cortef is Low. I have found with help of a well versed endo, that when my
thyroid level is still high and my Cortef is wearing off, my body is in a
state of uncorrected adrenal insufficiency. (same could happen with hyperT
and low adrenal function) Adrenal insufficiency causes my pulse to RISE, to
compensate for bp. (103 to 108 for me)
It is so complicated, because with hyperT level, my bp and pulse will BOTH
run a little higher. But you can catch the bp fall a little, and then the
pulse start to rise in response.
Do check on adrenal status, i am able to correct all this with a tiny bit
extra Cortef and lots of salt and water.
Best,
Holly
