Hey, Doc!? Do you have any cite(s) for that?? I would love to show it/them
to some of the smarmy docs around here for whom (like those everywhere else, I
suppose) lab #'s are the gold standard. >>>>
Sure. Look in Braverman's textbook under Hypothyroidism and Psychiatric
Disorders. That chapter says something like: Although Depression and Lethargy are
common presentations of Hypothyroidism; Insomnia, Anxiety, and frank Mania
have been reported.

Braverman's 6th edition had a lot on the Deiodinases, but I don't recall if
that author talked about their being activated by low T3 in circulation.

I had read about the mechanism in a Psych book or article that said that low
T3 in the blood activates the Deiodinases in the brain.

The heart thing, I learned when I told Ken Blanchard that my sister was
Clinically Hypothyroid; but she had Atrial Fibrillation which I always associated
with Hyperthyroidism.

He explained that Atrial Fibrillation is not rare in Hypothyroidism because
of activation of the Cardiac Deiodinases, and I was impressed that the
mechanism was similar to the brain mechanism.

I learned a long time ago, it pays to hang out with people who know more
about something than I do....
