So, if you feel that holiday headache coming on, be
sure and use only advil, naprosyn or indocin and your thyroid will thank
you!

Don't be so sure. Salycilates may have been shown in a test study to "lower
free and total thyroid
hormone test values.", but NSAIDs like Advil according to Thyroid Manager
affect different thyroid tests, that would lower your total T4 and T3 level
(which birth control pills also do), supposedly it doesn't matter since your free
levels go up, but don't a lot of women who go on birth control think it slowed
their metabolism down (permanently sometimes)?

Maybe I don't get it. Are you are saying, he did test advil, naprosyn or
indocin and found they did not affect thyroid levels. Or are you saying he tested
only aspirin, disalcid and meclomen and so he doesn't know what the others
will do?

Also, aspirin has this effect as a salycilate I believe, so pepto bismol and
some other medicinal products would have the same effect.

Aspirin, has also been known to trigger asthma (which in some cases is caused
by hypothyroidism, and usually it's not good to take something that mimicks
iodine for example, but doesn't do the complete job. According to thyroid
manager, aspirin mimicks thyroid hormone to a degree and does things like raise
BMR and accelerate circulation, but doesn't change mental state or other
function that thyroid would have a positive effect on.) My uncle developed asthma
when a doctor put him or daily aspirin, and the doctor didn't know it could
trigger asthma, it took almost a year of him feeling like he was going to
suffocate at night to read one of his newsletters that told him aspirin caused asthma
in some people.

So, maybe if possible, you should avoid all pain killers and medications that
you can.

You know, finding out that aspirin accelerates circulation gives me the
reason why some people are adequately treated aren't in pain anymore. Thyroid
hormone heals a weak heart and circulatory system so it can get enough oxygen rich
blood to the mucscles (including the brain if we're talking about headaches.)
